Stephanie Jensen, MSW, LICSW is an Indigenous and Latinx Clinical Social Worker licensed in both Arizona and Minnesota. Stephanie is the founder of St Paul Therapy and Miikana Therapy and currently the sole provider for each practice.  Stephanie specializes in working with trauma, anxiety, depression and Neurodivergence. She also works to help people heal attachment wounds and relationship difficulties. Miikana Therapy was founded with a mission to provide decolonized, antiracist and culturally responsive services. The communities Stephanie has the most experience working with include: BIPOC, Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, Disabled, Autistic and Chronically Ill.

Stephanie is trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities which include Brainspotting, Eye Movement and Desensitization (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Inner Child/Parts Work & Internal Family Systems Informed, Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Stephanie’s approach to therapy is rooted in a deep understanding of attachment and formative relational experiences. Stephanie focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship and collaboratively developing individualized goals for therapy to help people create desired changes in their lives. Stephanie is also trained in understanding the impacts of racial, intergenerational and historical trauma. Stephanie has been trained in neurodiversity affirming, culturally informed approaches to therapy and has experience supporting folks of marginalized communities.

Free Initial Consultation

A free 15 minute consultation will be scheduled via phone or video to assess needs and preferences for therapy. The purpose of this initial consultation is to determine if Makwa Therapy providers are the best fit for your needs. If we are not the best fit, we will provide referrals for you to reach out to. Please note, we cannot guarantee the availability of any referrals provided.

Individual Therapy

A one-on-one session where you and your therapist collaborate to create individual goals that support your mental health, areas of growth and/or needs. Examples of things to bring to Individual Therapy: anxiety, depression, self-worth, identity, relationship dynamics, setting boundaries, stress, professional and/or personal development, parenting skills, performance issues, emotion identification and regulation, adoption, traumatic life experiences, intergenerational trauma and historical trauma

Couples Therapy

A session where partners learn relationship skills and self-regulation skills while increasing awareness into their relationship dynamics and core issues.
Examples of what to bring to Couples Therapy: conflict resolution, communication skills, boundaries, learning unhelpful/helpful behavior patterns, expressing emotions, identifying needs, learning how to repair ruptures in relationships, working through life transitions or changes, grief or conflict resolution skills.

Free BIPOC Consultation

This service is for BIPOC folks who need support finding a therapist. A free 15 minute consultation will be scheduled via phone or video to assess needs and preferences for therapy. The purpose of the BIPOC Consultation is to provide resources and recommendations for BIPOC folks looking to start or re-start therapy. Please note, we cannot guarantee the availability of any referrals provided.

Family Therapy

A session where the family works together as a group to learn how to manage conflicts, struggles and challenges as a family system.
Examples of what to bring to Family Therapy: conflict resolution, communication skills, parenting skills, setting limits, boundaries, learning unhelpful/helpful family roles and dynamics, expressing emotions, identifying needs, learning how to repair ruptures in relationships, working through life transitions or changes, divorce, separation, learning to establish roles within the family system, grief/loss, illness, trauma,  and crisis/safety planning.  

Intensive Therapy

Intensive Therapy sessions are for individuals, couples or families who are feeling stuck in a certain issue, behavior, feeling or pattern. These sessions are two hours long with the following general structure: 30 minutes preparation (gathering information, providing psychoeducation, assessing needs and identifying the target goal for the session), 60-75 minutes of processing (making a shift with the identified target goal), 15-30 minutes of grounding and future planning (ensuring all participants are able to regulate and discuss how to integrate any shifts with the goal into their future work/daily lives). 

Clinical Supervision Services

Stephanie Jensen is an approved Clinical Licensure Supervisor with both the Minnesota Board of Social Work and the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Stephanie is currently providing licensing supervision only in the state of Minnesota. Stephanie has been practicing social work for 8+ years in a variety of settings including youth residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment for adults, dual treatment for substance use and mental health, outpatient psychotherapy services for children, adolescents and adults. Stephanie specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, attachment and works primarily with folks from the following communities: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Disabled, Athlete, ADHD, Autistic, Creative, Artist and Two Spirit.

LGSW/LMSW Licensure Supervision

Individual Clinical Supervision is for LMSWs and/or LGSWs who are working toward independent clinical licensure.

$120 per hour

*Sliding scale is currently full.*

Clinical Supervision for other licenses

Individual Clinical Supervision for non-social work trainees is offered and some boards will allow a percentage of these hours to be counted towards supervised practice. 

$120 per hour

Group Supervision

Group Supervision is for Trainees who are working towards earning independent licensure. 

$30 per hour
